Materials:Erdal Yarns, Ltd. “Bella” color # 018 – 10 skeins 90 yds/50 gr

50 g balls S = 9, M = 10, L = 11

Size Medium ( small and large below )

Finished size – 20”W X 22”L

4 stitches / 5.5 rows per inch

size 10 needle ( check for proper gauge )

BACK

Cast on 88 stitches

Work in stocking stitch for 13”

Place marker on each side for sleeves

Knit 9” more ( total 22” )

Bind off 27 shoulder stitches ; 30 neck stitches ; 27 shoulder stitches ( or put on stitch holders )

FRONTS ( make 2 mirrored )

Cast on 42 stitches

Work in stocking stitch for 13”

Place marker on sleeve side

Work in stocking stitch for 5.5”

Bind off 5 stitches on neck edge

Bind off 1 stitch every other row 10 times to shape neck line ( 27 stitches remain )

Knit to total 22” length

Bind off shoulder stitches ( or put on stitch holder )

Join the back shoulder and front shoulder seams together

COLLAR

Pick up 16 stitches from right slope of neck

Pick up 26 from back ( double up 4 evenly spaced across neck to get 26 from the 30 stitches )

Pick up 16 stitches from left slope of neck

Knit 6 rows stocking stitch for collar

Bind off loosely

FRONT BANDS

Left band - Pick up 54 stitches

Knit 4 rows stocking stitch

Bind off

Right band - ( buttonhole band )

Pick up 54 stitches

Knit 1 row stocking stitch

Buttonhole row :

Knit 2 stitches, bind off 2, knit 10, bind off 2, knit 10, bind off 2, knit 10, bind off 2, knit 10, bind off 2, knit 2 ( for a total of 54 stitches -- with 5 buttonholes )

Knit 2 more rows.

Bind off

Sew 5 buttons on plain band – spaced evenly ( between stitches : 3 + 4 ; 15 +16 ; 27 + 28 ; 39 + 40 ; 51 + 52 )

SLEEVES

Cast on 36 stitches

Working in stocking stitch, increase 1 stitch per side every 6^th row 16 times ( 68 stitches total )

Work even until sleeve measures 19 “

Bind off

Match center of sleeve to shoulder seam

Pin together

Sew sleeve in place

Sew sleeve and side seams

Weave in and trim all ends

SMALL ( 19” W X 22”L )

Cast on 84 stitches for back

40 stitches for fronts

( you will have 25 shoulder stitches )

Knit the same lengths as medium

LARGE ( 21”W X 22” L )

Cast on 92 stitches for back

44 stitches for fronts

( you will have 29 shoulder stitches )

Knit the same lengths as medium

Hang comb and 2 small ribber weights

Row 74 – mark for sleeves

Row 124 – put on waste yarn

( 27 shoulder sts, 30 neck sts, 27 shoulder sts )

FRONTS ( make 2 mirrored )

Row 0 - crochet cast on 42 sts

Hang comb and 1 small ribber weight

Row 74 – mark for sleeve

Row 99 - bind off 5 neck sts

Neck decreases : 1 st per decrease on rows : 100, 102, 104, 106, 108, 110, 112, 114 116, 118 ( 27 shoulder sts remain )

Row 124 – put on waste yarn

Hang back and front shoulders on machine and bind together

COLLAR

Hang back neck sts on machine doubling up 4 so you have 26 sts

Pick up 16 from each front edge

(total of 58 collar sts )

Knit 6 rows for roll collar

Bind off

FRONT BANDS

Hang left front evenly on 54 needles

Knit 4 rows

Bind off

Right buttonhole band ( hang on needles 27 left of 0 and 27 right of 0 )

Hang right front on 54 needles leaving these needles empty :

25 +24 , 13+12, 1+1, 12+13, 24+25

Pull all needles out in hold position

Cut 5 small lenghts of yarn ( 12 “ or so )

Ewrap 2 sts to the left of first set of empty needles , the 2 empty needles, and 2 sts to the right of empty needles ( for the first set, you will have 27, 26, 25, 24, 23, and 22 ewrapped ) Hang clip on yarn ends to hold them down

Continue to do this same ewrap for the other sets of empty needles

Knit across making sure that the ewrappd sts have knit

Knit 3 more rows and bind off

This makes a buttonhole between the front piece and the band

Sew 5 buttons on left band spaced evenly

SLEEVES

Crochet cast on 36 sts

Hang comb and 1 small ribber wt

Increase 1 st per side on rows : 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, 48, 54, 60, 66, 72, 78, 84, 90, 96

You will have 68 sts on machine

Row 110 – put on waste yarn or garter bar

Hang sweater on machine between front and back sleeve markers ( right side facing you )
