
FLOPPY HAT and STRIPED SCARF

This fun, quick and easy pattern would teach a beginner to work with texture and change colors and types of yarn. It also would teach how to work in the round and straight across, how to work in ends, make a loose tassel and attach fringes.
Materials: Erdal Yarns, Ltd. – Fluffy, color 580, 50 gr/69 yds – 2 skeins
Erdal’s Lazer, color 306/white, 100 gr/196 yds – 1 skein
Size J crochet hook
Technique for changing yarn: Leave two lps of sc on last row, pick up new color and complete the st, ch 1, turn.
Beg with white, ch 2, sc 8 in second ch from hook. Do not join, mark beg of rows and work in rnds.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around. (16 sts)
Rnd 3: 2 sc in each st around. (32 sts)
Rnd 4-6: 1 sc in each st around.
Rnd 7: 2 sc in first st, *sc in next st, 2 sc in next st. Rep from *around. (48 sts)
Rnd 8 & 9: Attach fluffy. SC in each st around. (48 sts)
Rnd 10: Attach white, sc in each st around. (48 sts)
Rnd 11: *2 sc in nest st, sc in next 2 sts. Rep from * around. (64 sts)
Rnd 12 & 13: SC in each st around.
Rnd 14: *2 sc in next st, sc in next 3 st. Rep from * around. (80 sts)
Rnd 15 & 16: SC in each st around.
Rnd 17: Attach fluffy, sc in each st around.
Rnd 18 & 19: Rep rnd 17.
Rnd 20: Attach white, sc in each st around.
Rnd 21-27: SC in each st around.
Rnd 28: Attach fluffy, sc in each st around.
Rnd 29 & 30: SC in each st around.
Rnd 31: Attach white, sc in each st around.
Rnd 32-39: SC in each st around.
Rnd 40: Attach fluffy, sc in next 10 sts, sc 2 sts tog, sc in next 10 sts, Rep around. (72 sts)
Rnd 41-47: SC in each st around. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
LOOSE TASSEL
Cut 16, 6 inch stands of fluffy and 6, 6 inch strands of white. Layer the strands randomly placing the white strands. Fold in half. With a 6 inch white strand, tie a knot at the fold. Insert hook in beg rnd, pull the knotted ends to the inside. Tie the two ends together on the inside.
SCARF
Beg with fluffy, ch 31.
Row 1: SC in second ch from hook and in each ch across. (30 sts)
Row 2: Attach white, sc in each st across.
Rows 3-10: SC in each st across. Cut yarn.
Row 11: Attach fluffy, Ch 1, turn. SC in each st across.
Rows 12-16: SC in each st across. Cut yarn.
Rows: 17-21: Attach white, sc in each st across. Cut yarn
Row: 22: Attach fluffy. SC in next 10 sts, dec 1 st, sc in each st across. (29 sts)
Rows 23 & 24: SC in each st across.
Rows 25-30: Attach white, sc in each st accross. Ch 1, turn.
Row 31: Attach fluffy, sc in next 10 sts, dec 1 st, sc in each st across. (28 sts)
Rows 32: SC in each st across.
Rows 33-41: Attach whte, sc in each st across.
Rows 42-49: Attach fluffy, sc in each st across.
Rows 50 & 51: Attach white, sc in each st across.
Rows 52 & 53: Pick up fluffy, sc in each st across.
Rep rows 50-53, 12 times.
Rows 102-111: Attach white, sc in each st across.
Rows 112-121: Attach fluffy, sc in each st across.
Rows 122-131: Attach white, sc in each st across.
Next: Rep rows 50-101, once.
Next: Rep rows 42-49, inc 1 st.
Next: Rep rows 33-41.
Nexr: Rep rows 31-32.
Next: Rep rows 25-30.
Next: Rep rows 22-24.
Next: Rep rows 17-21.
Next: Rep rows 11-16.
Next: Rep rows 2-10.
Next 2 rows: Attach fluffy, sc in each st across. Do not cut yarn.
Continue along side, work sc in ends of rows, working over yarn ends. SC in 30 sts of scarf end and in ends of rows on opposite side. Fasten off.
Fringe
Cut 30, 12 inch long strands of each color. Using 1 strand white and 1 strand fluffy, fold in half. Insert hook in first st of ending row. Pull up lp, insert hook in loop of folded yarn and pull through loop on hook. Attach 2 strands in each st across. Rep for other end of scarf.
Wear folded lengthwise or as a wide scarf.
