Hand knit pattern

Central Maine Knits

Erdal Gypsy   -  sage / olive

5.5 sts  X  7 rows per inch ( check for proper gauge )

Size SMALL  ( medium and large below )

Yarn needed :  S = 13 oz   M = 15 oz   L = 17 oz

V-NECK  SWEATER

SMALL   19” wide  X  24 “ long

Back

Cast on with smaller needle 106 sts

Work in 1 X 1 rib for 1”

With larger needle work in stockinette stitch for 3”

Place marker on each side.  Continue for another 13”.

Place marker on each side for sleeves

Continue for another 7 “  ( total length = 24” )

Bind off 35 shoulder sts, 36 neck sts, 35 shoulder sts

Front

Same as back to armhole markers

Knit 2” in stockinette stitch

Working on half of piece ( 53 sts ) to make V neck :

Decrease 1 stitch every other row 18 times ( neck edge )

Continue knitting in stockinette stitch until you have 7” above armhole markers.

Bind off

Knit other side same as above

Join back and front shoulders together

Sleeves

Cast on 54 sts

Work in 1X1 rib for 1” with smaller needle

Using larger needle,work in stockinette stitch for 17” more,  increasing 1 stitch per side , evenly throughout the sleeve 17 times.  ( Total of 88 stitches and 18” long )

Bind off

Match center of sleeve to shoulder seam.  Pin together and sew.

Sew sleeve seams.

Sew body seams to first marker leaving bottom 4” unsewn.

Weave in and trim all ends

Medium    20” wide  X  25 “ long

Cast on 112 sts

Armhole markers at 18”

( 38 shoulder sts, 36 neck sts, 38 shoulder sts )

Continue as above pattern

Large    21” wide X  26” long

Cast on 118 sts

Armhole markers at 19”

( 41 shoulder sts, 36 neck sts, 41 shoulder sts )

Continue as above pattern

Row 0 – Cast on 106 sts for 1 X 1 rib  tension 0  ( Brother standard machine )

Hang comb and do selvedge rows

Row 4 – tension 3  rib 10 rows     Transfer to main bed

Row counter to 0

Row 0  -  tension 10

Row 24 – mark sides for slits

Row 112 – mark sides for sleeves

Row 170 -  bind off center 36 sts.  Put shoulders on waste yarn ( 35 sts )

Front

Same as back to row  128

Row 128 – cross center 2 sts over as if making a cable

Put left half on hold

Decreases  -  2 sts on neck side on rows :  130, 134, 138, 142, 146, 150, 154,  158,  162    ( 18 sts total )

Row 170 – put on waste yarn

Do the same for the left side

Bind shoulders together

Sleeves

Row 0 – cast on 54 sts for 1X1 rib  tension 0

Hang comb and do selvege

Row 4 – tension 3     rib 10 rows

Transfer to main bed      Row counter to 0

Row  0 – Tension 10

Increase 1 stitch per side on rows : 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, 48, 54, 60, 66, 72, 80, 88, 96, 104, 112  ( 88 sts total )

Row 124 – put on waste yarn

Hang sweater on machine between sleeve markers

Hang sleeve     Bind together

Sew sleeve seams

Sew side seams to slit marker ( leaving bottom 4” unsewn )

Weave in and tie all ends

Medium – 20” wide   25” long

Cast on 112 sts

Mark armholes at row 120

V neck at row 136

End row 178

Large  -  21” wide  26” long

Cast on 118 sts

Mark armholes at row 128

V neck at row 144
