SANTA’S HELPER SCARF AND HAT

Get into the Holiday Spirit when you wear this duo while shopping and decorating.

Materials:  Erdal’s Laser, Red  - 2 skeins and Erdal’s Eyelash, White – 1 skein

Size 8 and  9 Circular Knitting Needles

SCARF

With red, cast on 32 sts.  K 1 row, P 1 row  (stockinette st)  (5 times)

With white, K 1 row, P 1 row ( 2 times)

Next 10 rows:  With red, K every row

Next 4 rows:  With white, K 1 row, P 1 row (2 times)

Rep last 14 rows until scarf measures 57 inches.

Next rows:  With red, K 1 row, P 1 row (5 times)

Bind off.   Cut yarn.  Weave in ends.

HAT

Using size 8 knitting needles, cast on 100 sts.

K 2, P2 ribbing for 10 rows.

K 1 row, P 1 row (stockinette st) for 10 rows.

Fold ribbed portion up to meet sts on needle.  *pick up sts from foundation row as if to knit.  Insert needle in next st as if to K.  YO and  K both sts, having 1 st on needle when completed.  Rep from * to end of row.  (100 sts)

With White, *K 1 row, P 1 row.  Rep from * once.

With red, K every row for 10 rows.

With white, *P 1 row, K 1 row.  Rep from * once.

With red, P 1 row, K 9 rows.

With white, *P 1 row, K 1 row.  Rep from * once.

Dec rows:  With red, P 1 row.  Next row:  K 2 tog across.  (13 sts)

Next Dec rows:  K 2 tog across.  (7 sts)

Cut yarn leaving a long strand.  With a crochet hook, draw yarn through all 7 sts and pull up tightly.  Fasten off.  Weave in ends.  Sew seam.
